Tools are a major topic of the classes, and generally included are discussions on where to purchase certain ones. Sometimes multiple suppliers will carry similar tools at different price points. The tools listed below are Stewart MacDonald only and what we consider the “must haves” in your toolbox. They will all be demonstrated and used within the course. This list does not include common tools that can be purchased from other tool suppliers, (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, socket set, etc.). During the course you will use many different kinds of tools that were never intended for lutherie, as well as specialty tools that can be fabricated. You do not need to purchase this list before attending the class, StewMac gives a 10% discount to our students when purchased during the course.
